I took a walk this morning that lead past the Temple. The flowers were so beautiful on the grounds that I just had to stop and take a few pictures.

Tonight my companion and I invited a few of the single sisters over for dinner in our new home. Good food and good times were had by all. I love the Minerva Teichert painting that hangs in our living room!

With General Conference coming up next weekend, I decided to take pictures today of sites where general church conferences were held here in Nauvoo in the 1840s. Whether in a Grove of trees, a Tabernacle or in a Conference Center, hearing the word of the Lord from a Prophet of God is a rich blessing in our lives. I would have loved to be here when the Prophet Joseph Smith addressed the early saints.

I finally made the move to my new home on Wednesday. It has taken me a couple of days to get things organized and put away while I am still in sites each day and shows at night! I love my new place and I am thoroughly enjoying my new companion, Sister Sue Brown.
As you can see the leaves are starting to turn colors. I can hardly wait to see them in "full bloom"!

The garage is a stand alone on the right. I washed my car tonight and with a garage it should stay clean a lot longer! YEAH! |
Just needs some flowers! |

Joseph Smith said that we can't keep our bow strung tight all the time. Sometimes we need to let loose and have some fun! So on our "off" night from doing the Rendezvous show we had a Parley P Pratt cast party down by the Mississippi River at the end of Parley Street. The socializing, dinner and entertainment were great!
Elder Broadhead on the guitar was in charge of the entertainment. Here some of the teamsters were the backup group to good ole cowboy songs |
A flock of pelicans flew over in formation |
A few couples couldn't resist dancing to some of the songs The Mississippi River in the background makes a romantic setting |

My dear friends - Elder & Sister Curtis - are leaving Nauvoo this week to go home for 6 months and then will come back to finish their mission. I am sad to see them go, but look forward to their return!

A unique feature of this mission for the young sister missionaries is that they are here in Nauvoo for 6 of their 18 months, then they go outbound somewhere else in the United States for 6 months and then come back here for the last 6 months of their mission. Sister Russell and Sister Etherington are leaving this week! The rest of the young sister missionaries will find out this week where their outbound assignments will be - it is actually just like receiving their original call in the mail all over again! They are anxious and nervous at the same time!
All of us Senior Missionaries get very close to these young sisters! They are like granddaughters to us! We hate to see them go.....but look forward to their return in the spring!

I have been sick for the past few days with a chest cough and had "cabin fever" today so I went for a drive along the river on Main Street. Those of you who have come to Nauvoo, have you ever gone to the end of Main Street? If not, here are some sights you missed!
Beautiful country road |
I understand that the lady who lives here hand makes several instruments including harps! Several of us missionaries are going to take a tour of the home later this month. |
This is where the road dead ends! |
This sight made me think of being back at Sunset Beach |
Even had a barge go by just like we used to see out our front windows at the beach! |

Last Saturday, September 6th was my grandson, Weston Port's Baptism Day in Ladera Ranch, CA. I wish I could have been there to be with all my beautiful family for this special occasion. But they know I love them and was with them in my heart!
